Gertrude Sibongile Ledwaba, well known to many as Meisie, was born in Mamelodi on the 18th of August in 1957. She was the 4th daughter of 6 children of the late Mr. Johannes and Mrs. Matshidiso Kubheka. She matriculated from Mabusha Besela College. Her first employment was with the Ellerines group, where she worked as an accounting clerk. She then moved to the Pick n Pay group as a creditor's clerk for over 10 years. She resigned to assist the husband as an administrator for his medical practices. As she was handling that with utmost diligence, she realized that she still had the drive to pursue other careers. In 1995 at the age of 38, she qualified as a cosmetologist. She went on to becoming a successful entrepreneur, who opened a restaurant in sunnyside in 2005. She had her own clothing line, she ran a successful imports and export business and she was also highly involved in the events management industry. She encountered a short illment and slept in the Lord on the 7th of June 2023. She was a virtuous wife to the Late Dr. Abednego Ledwaba, A loving and nurturing mother to Kgaogelo and Robert Ledwaba, a Super Gogo to her grandson, Zani, a pillar of strength to her mother, Matshidiso Kubheka. To her remaining siblings, Annah, Joey and Lindy, she was an uncommon and peculiar sister. The entire family, relatives and friends shall surely miss your presence and holistic relevance in their lives.

Hamba kahle Khathide, Masobote, Magonondo

We shall surely miss you, but will always hold on to the blessings and memories we created together.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,

Or sat quietly in a chair.

Perhaps you sent a funeral spray,

If so we saw it there.

Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,

As any friend could say.

Perhaps you were not there at all,

Just thought of us that day.

Whatever you did to console our hearts,

We thank you so much whatever the part.
